  1. Vinnie has a torn whip muscle. I'm thinking that's not the same as the ACL. Is that right?
  2. Judy, I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad Jim was able to go peacefully at home where he knew he was loved and was not alone. He was a grand old soul. He will be missed.
  3. Darlene, I am so sorry. I don't think the pain ever leaves completely; however, I do feel we, in time, get used to them being physically gone. I believe that spiritually they don't always leave us. Sometimes they stay or stop in to make sure we're O.K. And as Diane said, November isn't that long ago. Maggie Sue was your first and she was with you a long time. That's not easy to get over.
  4. Angel Sophia, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with all the bridge kids we have sent to play with you, especially my Rex
  5. Thank you Dan. Thanks to everyone else as well for helping me pay tribute to my "Little Man"
  6. 12/26?/91-9/04/04 Rex came to us as a spunky 8 year old and was a two-time bounce through no fault of his own. He had retired at age 5 after racing mostly at Witchita but also including a few short stints at Geneva Lakes and Dubuqe. That boy made me laugh every day. He brought a smile to my face. He still does. He was a perfect gentleman-- very proper-- with slight alpha tendencies. Rex was glossy black, smooth as silk, black tuxedo, heart shaped face, a slight Roman nose, big, bat ears, two white back toes and one white toenail. His eyes were deep, dark brown and his eyebrows always expressive. He was very photogenic. He slept curled up in a tiny ball. He was small, fast, and slight of build. He could turn on a dime. He weighed 64 pounds on a heavy day. He slammed, banged, and trash-talked Vinnie when they ran in the yard. He would spin, prance, and play bow, and he slapped the floor loudly with both front paws when he was excited. He loved stuffies and could kill a squeaker faster than a lightning strike. Rexie loved walks, rides, and people food. He had milk and cookies every night before bed. He loved his Mom, Dad, and sisters. He was our watchdog and our protector. He chased the cat twice. He reminded me when I'd been on the computer too long. He banged his hard little head under my elbow and made my arm bounce. He reminded me every night to take my meds at 10 p.m. without fail He woke me up if necessary and was relentless until I took them. He wanted petted anytime we were sitting near him. I would sit or lie with him every night and pet him, sometimes for an hour or more. The only thing he asked of us was to love him. I held his small, heart-shaped face in my hands and told him he every day more times than I could count that he was a precious baby and that I loved him to pieces. I always kissed him on the top of his head, and he never mionded. I thanked him many times for coming to live with us and told him I was sorry he didn't get here sooner. We always celebrated his birthday the day after Christmas. He would be 12 years old today. I miss him. Happy Birthday Rex. Love, Mom
  7. Deb, I am so sorry for your loss. Annie is free now and and I'm sure my Rex was waiting to greet her. Sending hugs to you and Lloyd,
  8. Sophia, an inspiration to all, now lives pain-free. She will always be with you, Patti and Fred. God Bless,
  9. I am so very sorry, Ann.
  10. I don't think it ever gets any easier. I just get more practice coping. I'm so sorry. Sending hugs,
  11. A beautiful tribute to Eliza, Diane. I know this was very difficult for you to write. I think Eliza would tell you now that there's nothing to forgive, if you'd only ask. Eliza, Strider, and Daisy are the reasons I will not use rimadyl or etogesic.
  12. Hi Andrea! Did you tell these nice people how many times you've flunked? If you were one of my 8th graders, we'd be considering you for retention by now! Welcome Sorry I didn't see this until now How are your puppers?
  13. Thanks, DIane Rex gives back 100 fold every day to us for loving him and giving him his forevre home. He's the spunkiest grey I've ever met and will turn 11 on Dec. 26th
  14. My principal at school swears that pilling dogs is the reason they invented cheese in a can. My boys could never resist, no matter how big that dang pill was. I usually use the cheese foldover or the cream cheese bomb
