  1. I am so sorry for your loss. As always, you gave him the very best possible life. The others must be so happy to see him, and you know they're all waiting together for you to join them on some (very) distant day. Sending love.

I know Thank you, Ullaluv :) I'm sure Chase came to get him. Always our good boy :heart I know you only met Jake once, but I think you knew how special he was.

Jake came home today. He is resting in Vinnie's urn until his arrives. Thank you all for your sympathy and kind words. They are a comfort.

  2. Godspeed Jake Ryan

    April 2007-September 12, 2017
Jake from Texas by way of Cincinnati went to be with Chase, Red, Vinnie and Rex. He has been with me the longest of all the greyhounds. I saw and answered a post on GreyTalk from a young dad who needed to rehome his 18 month old greyhound. He told me the minute I met Jake, I would fall in love with him, and I did. Jake left four years later on the same date that my Chase had to leave. I know Chase came to get his little brother and is watching over him now. The house is so quiet without him. May is trying to figure it all out as am I.
Love you and miss you buddy. 2764.png<3

  3. I know, Diane!!! And thanks for posting the pictures for me.

    Re: ears

I think I will work on doing a photographic study on the Many ears of May :lol She has so many combinations, so it will take me awhile.

Chase didn't have dew claws, and I don't think Red did either. I prefer them that way :)

  4. Jake has been lonely since Chase left, and I waited and waited for someone to come because they always do. Well, for almost two years no one came. None of my friends called saying, "I have a dog that I think is supposed to be with you." With the exception of Jake-- who I found in a post on GT -- and Vinnie who was our first and strictly by the book, this is how it always works at our house. We've never had a girlie since our first dog 35 years ago. All boys. All breeds. Always.

So, one day on my Facebook this goofy picture popped up on my homepage. She made be belly laugh. I saw her and fell in love ... and I watched her for six weeks. I wasn't sure if DH was ready. He did the hospice for Chase and it was really rough. When he saw her he laughed, and then nothing... for a few weeks. Then he started to ask about her. Finally, last Saturday we drove Jake to see her at a M&G. They didn't know we were coming. When Jake and I walked out, May was following us. We were approved with lightening speed, and she came home last Sunday.

May is soft like a bunny, stripy, gentle, and whines a tiny bit like Vinnie. She is passionate about her toys and plays endlessly with them like Rex. She is silly like Red. She checks in on us and has a crate like Chase. She is from Texas and smaller like Jake. She raced in Mobile, just turned two in May, and has floppy ears: right, left, forward, both front and back at the same time, and folded on top of her head. Though I see a little bit of all our greys in her, she is still unique. May is cuddly, nosey, and zigs when I zag. We haven't brought anyone new home for 6 1/2 years, so we are trying to remember everything all at once, but most of our routine has been the same over the years. :)

I am glad the Universe thought it was time :) Meet CTW Miss May :heart (Diane will post pics for me when she can :) )

  5. I see you are in Indy. I would give his foster family a call and also the group for advice. Kids can be too much for my Jake, especially if they are loud and moving fast. I would be very careful. Technically he has two biting incidents, whether he broke the skin or not, and you need to know what the bite laws are in your county. I am in Indiana as well. In my county they pick up the dog for a 10 day stay at the shelter if vaccs aren't up to date, and in the past, some multiple bite cases were deemed aggressive dogs and put down. In the county where my daughter lives, they have 0 tolerance for dog bites. I am not trying to scare you. I want Magic to be safe :) There are several Indy greyhound people on the board. Reach out to them and see who they know/have worked with regarding trainers and behaviorists. :)

I like the idea of putting him in the office under your supervise with no kids near and make it a happy place. Enjoy your new boy :)

  6. Such a beautiful girl. I am so sorry She had to leave.

    Godspeed, Shanti...

Adding: I was always drawn to your Shanti and never knew why. Her looks reminded me so much of my Red. I see now that his sire, Minike Zeke is her grand sire. I get it now. They are such big personalities and leave a huge hole. Hugs...
