I just checked the GIG Facebook group. I didn't see mention of the Eisenhower specifically, but it did mention that dogs should be muzzled in hotel corridors. We stay at the Quality Inn and don't have corridors to worry about. Toni Duchi Admin · Yesterday at 11:47 AM igated to pay attention to what your (their) dog is doing. No flexi-leads, no long leads with dogs flying out at the end...there are upwards to 1,000 dogs at this event and it is up to all of us to pay attention and be cautious. This year for the first time, we are asking people to wear muzzles on your dogs in the hotel hallways. There was a serious incident last year where someone had multiple dogs and they literally pulled her to attack another dog...muzzles would have prevented the ultimate damage. Please, please, let's keep this event as safe as possible...

Iker was my first introduction to galgos. He was a survivor and a gentle soul. You gave him a great life. Despite what Xavi says, dont pee on Beatrix when you see her over the bridge.

We get our piddle pads from them. Most places don’t carry ones that are large enough for our hounds.

Agree. I came to this harsh realization after our first galgo, Beatrix, had osteo in her pelvis. We got into galgos hoping to avoid osteo... and lost.

If anyone is ever interested in horseback riding, make a reservation at Painted Bar Stables in Burdett. A group of 8 of us Grapehounders went yesterday. Erika and her husband Dan were terrific. She did a great job of pairing riders with horses. We were supposed to ride for 1.5 hours, but wound up riding for 2 hours. Terrain was varied and adequately challenging. Loved it!

That's so cool, Mo! BTW, Sara asked about "must do" things at Grapehounds. I mentioned the Prime Rib at Seneca Lodge. I told her that she could find Sean there. Tricia too! I'm just Vickie next to her Julie. Plus, she has the Cruise Director shirt.

Well, now that I know where Cabin 87 is (one of the stand alone ones in the center area), I believe that Petra and Jack stayed there during their last Grapehounds a couple of years ago. It's one of the newer ones, but has a tiny porch. Only one-step, from what I recall, which would be good for Bella.

It's a personal choice. We lost two to osteo. Faye Oops was diagnosed in October with osteo at the top of her humerus. We let her go about six weeks later. The same for Beatrix. We never got a clear diagnosis for her (she was a galgo and it has her pelvis, not a long bone), but we knew she was hurting. We were scheduled for a CT scan, but made the call the day before that was scheduled. One restless night in which we could no longer control the pain with meds was all it took for both of them. You can never err on the side of a day too early. It's a painful disease for which there is no cure. I'm very sorry you're going through this.

Our local friends, Ryan and Nicole Edwards, came to Grapehounds with their young son Cole. I'm thinking that he was 2 or 3 y/o at the time. I almost forgot about that since we didn't run into them that often since they rented a house. However, we did meet up with them one afternoon at the goat farm for a cheese tasting (https://livelyrun.com/). I don't think they're on this GreyTalk, but I know Ryan is pretty active in the Facebook group. He can give you tips if you post there. Kevin and Brian have taken their son swimming at the lake too, which is literally minutes from Seneca Lodge.

Bonny, Darcy and Celeste all went to Grapehounds in their very senior years. Grapehounds can be a very relaxing event for dogs, unless you have a nervous one that won’t settle. Darcy was 14.5 y/o at her last Grapehounds. She’d join us at wineries for the a couple of hours and then we’d let her relax in the cabin while we continued to go out. The old crab pot still loved to travel. The advantage of staying at Seneca Lodge is that you’re close to everything. Dropping off a hound mid-day isn’t too much of an inconvenience. Jen had an excellent point about Grapehounds Central too. They set-up two large tents at Atwater, which is a beautiful setting. One for vendors and another just for people. You can taste at a couple of wineries and then set-up camp there. They’ll have a tasting bar right inside the tent and you can purchase bottles there. On the other side of the lake, Lakewood has a large flat lawn area for hanging out too (although no tent). I can’t speak to the kids though. That all depends on how much you can handle. Our friends Brian and Kevin always have their son in tow, but he is in the double digits and content with playing on his iPad and ignoring us boring adults. Here is a *very* short clip of Bonny at her last Grapehounds when she was about 12.5 y/o. Darcy was 13.5 y/o. We actually got them to “run” at the Seneca Lodge tennis court.

If it's any consolation, our new cabin was damp too from all the rain last year.

YAY Jackie! Burke had that cabin for the past two years. He loved it. Tricia, not so much. It has two full beds, modern bathroom and AC at least. Glad you’re coming! And yes, only one small step inside. It was also famously occupied by Nancy and Doug for years before they instituted the 2-dog rule.

I'm so sorry for your sudden loss or Barkley. He was fortunate to have you. I hope your other dogs remain safe given the questionable circumstances.

We got ours from Chewy. I no longer have the package, but according to the one pictured on the website, they are good for 8 months for both fleas and ticks. This is our second year using them. We like the Quality Inn for the on site bar - Reliance Mine. Oh, and the waffle maker in the breakfast room is good too.

Our greyhound Celeste had issues with corns, but it turns out her on-again/off-again limping was caused by a compressed disc in her neck. We switched from using a collar to a harness, which helped a lot. I hope it's something as simple as that.

That was my thought too. We lost our Celeste to this last year. Our vet told us to say goodbye. I think you should too. Im so sorry.
