  1. I hope so too. She had to have a lot of sedation, so she is out of it right now. Poor girl's muzzle is uber swollen, and she is drooling. The vet said she had extra teeth, but they pulled 23 and she is toothless. The vet said once she really got in there, poor girl's mouth was so bad that she did take all 4 canines, and she is a pretty conservative vet. I'm supposed to give her tramadol and antibiotics tonight, but she is so out of it there is no way she would take a mooshie and I am not supposed to open her mouth or lift her lips because of the sutures. Can you crush tramadol and put it in canned dog food and not have them taste it?
  2. Lucy had a loooooong 3.5 hours in surgery. All her teefers are out, and I get to pick her up about 5. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the good thoughts, we both appreciate it.
  3. I haven't heard anything yet...I'm hoping they got a late start. I left the vet at 8:15 after the consult. The vet said the same thing...her worries were in taking the canines as well, she might leave the bottom ones but she would have to see how it went. I felt comfortable leaving Lucy with her, which is nice after the last couple of vet fiascos. Bleh, I hate this waiting though....
  4. I hope your sweet girl is feeling better.
  5. Lucy is going in for her dental on Thursday morning, and we will go by what the vet recommends/feels comfortable with. Think good thoughts for us please, and I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

I am so sorry! Runn free sweet Wally!
  7. She is going to be....(counting on my fingers here) 12? lol I thought she was 12 last year...obviously I can't count. Pulse therapy isn't working. She can't keep her tongue in her mouth anyway, and since her stroke is is really a happy girl except when eating dinner.
  8. Lucy has stomatitis really bad, and it is time to do another dental. (Her last one was June and they pulled 12 teeth.) I think she has 12-14 left including her canines, but her mouth is so bad right now that even on a course of antibiotics her gums are bleeding with just a touch. She is miserable, and I have tried everything I could, but those teeth have to go. She likes canned food, it it will be ok, but I know I have read not to pull the canines, but I can't remember why. I've read posts where people have greys with no teeth at all and they are fine and happy, but was trying to remember why not to pull the canines before I talk to the vet again. Her canines now, even if I brush and rinse every day have ulcers around the base. She is fine for about 2 months after the dental, and then I miss 1 day and it is an avalanche and I can't catch up and fix it. TIA...
  9. My folder is empty. That was an interesting trip down memory lane, thanks.
  10. This probably doesn't help now...but we just got a new product in Anti-lick strips
  11. I have been using a newer product on my Diesel. I started in September, when the other glucosamine supplements didn't seem to be helping-and he couldn't hop up on the couch anymore. It has made 100% difference in his mobility, and his hind end seems a lot stronger. He will actually come in the kitchen and beg when I am cooking again. I do have it here at the store, and I will get it up on our website shortly. myristin
  12. I am so sorry. I know how much Cowboy's big paws tromped all over your heart. Run Free beautiful Cowboy!
  13. Awwww, I saw Ripple's name and my heart dropped. I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet girlie. I'm sure Jed met her at the bridge, and they are both watching over you.
  14. Oh I am so sorry to hear of Warlock's passing. He is a very special guy.
  15. I've done the DGP with Diesel, and it did help at first. If you go to their website, you can get a week's worth in samples. The thing that honestly seems to be working for my big guy is a glucosamine/myristol complex... myristin He has been on it since the beginning of the month, and he has zoomed around the yard, doesn't have a problem jumping up on the couch like he did, and generally seems like he is in less pain. That for me is priceless, as he is generally my Eeyore. This one they use for hip dysplasia, and people have told me glucosamine doesn't help LS, but I do see a huge difference in him. He eats his food, his ears are up, and he is generally under my feet again. He still won't go down the stairs, but that's ok. I do have some DGP leftover I can send you, and am about to re-order the Myristin, so if you want a sample of either-pm me and I can send you some. Hugs to your pupper...
  16. I started Diesel on this on the first of the month. http://www.katiesbumpers.com/Cart/myristin2.html He's been on a glucosamine for awhile, but within a few days I did notice the bent back leg thing easing up. At almost 2 weeks I see his hips moving more and he's sometimes got a bounce in his rear step. I don't know if the reason it is working faster for him is because he is already/has been on a glucosamine supplement, but I personally think it has helped a great deal with his comfort. He still lays down a lot, but will stand while eating and his ears are not flat to his head all the time. We tried the shot a couple years ago, and may try it again-but at the time all it did was stress Diesel out over the shiny floor and empty my wallet. Hugs to your sweetie.
  17. If you don't want to bomb, you can use Flea-go on the carpet and furniture. It is a borax product that works really well. Someone mentioned Dawn for killing fleas in my Frontline over Revolution thread. It has been a bad year for fleas, but the good news is you caught it early. I hear you on the chemicals, so you might try washing with Dawn and a conditioner first and using the crystals (Flea-go) or do a google search on Borax for flea control. Good luck!
  18. This is about what the vet said, thank you! Also told me as long as it has been 24 hours between applications, it should be ok-but we both agreed until the stomach bug is over-no meds. She did seem fine this morning as far as upset tummy, but I still want to wait. I also asked if the tummy thing could be a reaction to the Reveloution, but the vet thinks it is unlikely. If she is still itchy tonight I can give her some Chlorpheniramine and I can get the scrip on the way home. It is way more likely that the lick-o-saurus rex ate something in the yard, or the garden. Thanks guys!
  19. Well, the question is moot now. She has some kind of tummy bug and has thrown up a couple of times, so no meds until she is feeling better. I left a message with the vet's message service, so I can get an appt in the morning. Poor Sally. Thanks guys for your help.
  20. Where we live, we really don't have a flea problem-just ticks. However, not pointing any fingers but we have new neighbors. They have a cute corgi and a cocker spaniel, and coincedentally after no fleas for 7 years...my dogs suddenly have fleas. I have only seen a couple under collars, have vaccummed and debugged the house and have not seen anymore live ones since applying Revolution on the dogs. Lucy and Diesel are fine, no more itching and it has been a week. Sally, however is still itching and scratching-but I don't see any flea dirt on her. She got the first dose of Reveloution, and then later that night rolled in something disgusting so she had to have a bath. Do you think I washed all the flea meds off? She is not a sighthound, but I still worry about too many chemicals. Should I apply a dose of Frontline Plus over the top of the Revolution? I soaked her in the tub last night too, just in cool water to check for dirt or floating fleas and diddn't see any. She didn't scratch anymore last night, but this morning she was back to chewing her sides. I can wait and call the vet in the morning, but I figured I could ask the knowledgeable peeps here. We are a little hyper sensitive in the itching deptartment at our house and I hate to see Sally uncomfortable. Thanks!
  21. More prayers and good thoughts coming for sweet Cosmo and you both.
