  1. what a beauty!! thanks so much for sharing!
  2. oh jen, i am so so sorry -- what a wonderful boy!
  3. so glad puck ate a good dinner!!!!!!! carol - for your basket i will make a lightweight fleece coat & ship to you. i've been making them for halfway home greyhounds (our group) fundraisers for several years and rivie has always been my coat model for photos - i am not a professional seamstress!! i have never sold a coat - they are only for donation!!! rivie scared us a bit this weekend - she exhibited some weakness in her backend. i was feeling pretty good after her vet check last thursday - so this let me know that we just don't know day to day what will come. it seems to have passed, but we are watching very close.
  4. hi kelly - welcome to gt -- sorry your first post involved os! my rivie is one of the "july 5" - that grew from five to what seven, eight, nine??? anyway please see the current on-going os threads here, there are quite a few going....seems to come in waves here on gt. i know the "shock" factor you speak of - been there, done that. rivie's tumor is on her rib - so we have a bit different path, but her biopsy was july 7 with results coming in july 14 - we are "pain management" - surgery was not an option. gt has saved me this month - you will find lots of shoulders to cry on that totally know what you are going through, cause they are going through almost the same thing. there is a lot of help/advice and big shoulders here -- so welcome - and we are so so sorry that your baby is in our (*&(*^&%^&%% os club.
  5. but kyle - where's the update on charlie? how's he doing and how are YOU doing since you're back out on the road
  6. carol - i thought of you all day yesterday you know our hearts are with you today -- i think a 7.5 memorial is an awesome idea - if you find out about this, would you please let me know so i can add some to it? please know we are right there with you - neyla and puck - hope you are more "on" today! shannon - when will you know more info on flash today?
  7. carol - i am so so so sorry - you know you are in our hearts and we will forever be tied through 7.5 club. hugs - teri
  8. Hi, I'm new to this group. My Gracie was diagnosed with osteosarcoma one week ago. Mmy husband and I have been crying all week. She is being assessed for an amputation. She sometimes wont eat so I put her pill in liverworst, just a tiny bit. I'm so sorry for all of us dealing with this nasty diseas Gracys mom i'd say welcome to our group - but we really don't want any new members - we are SO SO SORRY that you HAVE to join us - we understand here - you will find great support/help/friends/advice right here in this thread. neyla has had her dx for 3 months, so jen is our resident expert - the rest of us are all newby's - dx since the first of july. we all have a little different path within this forest - but we all have os babies. feel free to ask/rant/rave/whatever -- we all understand. so i'll just say hello gracie and roselle - we are here for you.
  9. when rivie stopped eating i started making her chicken breasts boiled in boullion that i then process in the food processor - so far her appetite is great and she is still eating this like a champ. i mix in a little (1/4 cupish) of her evo with it. somebody told me about tuna - so i bought some tuna pkts yesterday and she had that for breakfast - she ate great - haven't seen yet if it caused any "side effects" rivie had always taken her pills in cheese - after the biopsy she REFUSED the cheese - i went to the store and came home with a whole grocery sack of "stuff" to try to hide pills in - the best so far is brausweiger - it is back by the sausage in the meat section - it is soft and moldable around the pills and she takes them in it fine - other things that have worked are: wennies, cream cheese, velveeta (but not any kraft products????) and co-jack cheese slices. hope this helps. teri
  10. right there with you - hugs and prayers to you - loves to poodle - my heart is with you today - teri
  11. good for you annie!! sounds like she is on the mend - she will have it figured out in no time i bet. as for the meds - i was having trouble with rivie taking hers and here is what she likes: braunschweiger - it is back by the sausage at the grocery store and "molds" around the pills nicely - she will also take her "cheese meds" in velveeta, cream cheese, or co-jack (but not kraft -- go figure?) she will take her pain meds in wennies - but sometimes gums it and spits out the pills - maybe this will help?? you remain in our thoughts and prayers!
  12. our fingers and toes are crossed!!!
  13. neyla is in my thoughts this morning - don't you think we are all looking at them with a "different eye" than we used to have?? - my eyes and brain are on overdrive with rivie right now, i know. oh i hope that neyla has always had off days that weren't as suspect as they become right now.....but i do think we are all looking at them for any sign of pain/over-doing it/limps/panting.....this morning i see rivie dragging her back leg just a tad and i panic. we NEED to be doing that with them right now because we know what's going on with them and we need to be on top of the situations that come up - it's being responsible "parents" to them and we do it because we love them dearly. we are praying for neyla that she has just had a busy week and needs a little extra rest and a few extra pain meds here and there - maybe a normal part of it all? neyla don't scare your momma!! carol - you are in my prayers/heart/thoughts today - my heart hurts with you. please stay around here and help us that will be facing the same thing soon - we need your support. just feel us all with you as you face today. thank you all for admiring rivie - i got the pics loaded to the gt gallery and one of her done - now i can't figure it out again - go figure? but thank you all for your comments. she has always liked a little variety to her dinners - so i gave her a 'tuna meal' this morning instead of the ck breast - hope that is ok!!!
  14. just got home from our vet check - everything is as good as it can be right now -- rivie has actually gained a pound (extra cheese/treats for the meds and the homecooked chicken breasts - yum!) heart and lungs are clear sounding - ribs seem stable - tumor has grown, but not horribly in 2 weeks. i had the day off work, so i THINK i figured out this picture deal - here's my beautiful rivendell escort (rivie).....
  15. so glad to hear that joe is home -- hope the storms have gone away - here's to recovery - cheers!
  16. sweet post like that deserved a double post!!!! my heart is with you & sirocco!! charlie - so glad 1st chemo is behind you - so custard for you as well!!! flashy - prayers will follow you friday as you get your post first dose of the killer stuff check! also hoping for anubis update - drat. rivie is still holding her own. she sees the vet tomorrow for her 2 week check - to measure rib stability and tumor growth, etc and check on pain management, but i think it is ok for now. we are going to try to take her on a little car trip vacation this weekend, so well see how that goes -- thank you all for the support - you have no idea what you all mean to me - i find myself checking for update and looking - cheering for you and crying with you several times a day - thanks guys -
  17. so glad your baby's home - she will rest so much better, as will you. here's to recovery!!
  18. welcome to gt -- sorry you are here because of os dx....drat -- gracy's diagnosis is the pits -- we really don't like new members to our little club we have going here - if you read all the way through the 8 pages you will find lots of support and ideas. your decision on the path you will take must be made for you and gracy - in this thread are quite a few with os and each has a little bit different path they are on - but we all understand and are here for you - hugs and prayers - teri
  19. rivie takes 1/2 tablet gabapentin (600mg) am and 1/2 tab pm - so she gets 600mg per day. then she takes tramadol 50mg tab am and pm too - dr said we could give her one or two am and pm and any time in between when needed. right now she is taking 1 tab am and 1 tab pm and she does not seem to be in amy pain. hope this helps. teri
  20. you will make the right choice for sirocco - it is just not right to see them in pain. hugs to you and sirocco as you face the week ahead - know that you have friends who understand and are here for you on gt - don't hesitate to rant/rave/cry -- because we're right there with you all the way. you are in our thoughts and prayers. teri poor puck! i have no experience in this area (lol) but i'm sorry he has this complication....there was another thread on here that involved the same anatomy part and treatment - anybody remember what thread it was??
  21. checking for update...........hugs & prayers
  22. delete - after posting i am ashamed - rivie is handling this like a true lady and i am whining - i am ashamed --
  23. rest well, beautiful annie - the experts on gt will be glad to help you get your house in order for her homecoming!!! i highly recommend chicken breasts cooked in ck boullion and processed in the food processor joejoes mom goes right for the steak and liver however yum!!
  24. it is true - this will never be easy no matter whether it's today or tomorrow - you are doing this FOR anubis -- the selfish thing to do is to want them there for you even if you think they are in pain. i know the denial feelings -- i keep thinking "the lab was wrong/mixed up/admin confusion" and the biopsy is for some other doggie - not my rivie! our hearts and prayers are with you -- please don't stay away for long - we are here for you and understand all too well -- please feel our hugs and prayers - for they are with you.
