  1. Raqi - Call me when you catch up. Thanks for the pics Leslie
  2. Is the swelling starting to subside yet? Hope he is better today.
  3. I'm so glad that T is on the mend. That must have been very scary for both of you as well as T. A kiss on the nose for T and something treatish to make him feel better. We are blessed down here with "Venom 1" with Miami Dade Fire/Rescue. They hoof it all over the southeast it seems. Nice info on the site http://www.miamidade.gov/mdfr/emergency_special_venom.asp How to get antivenom/venomousreptiles.org http://www.venomousreptiles.org/pages/antbnk Some reasonably good info, not that Jeff isn't a master of roaming the computer http://www.envenomated.com/articles.php?article_id=24
  4. Five years? Has it really been five years ago that I said goodbye to my hearthound Ryce? It still seems like yesterday. The summer solstice is here again and I am once again reflecting on this very special heart hound of mine. He still loiters about the house in the corner of my eye. His nails still click on the tile in the middle of the night. His zebra is still on my dresser where I see it every day. His pictures still abound throughout the house. Yes, he is still here where he is supposed to be. Gus missed him terribly when he left us but Gustopher P walked around Ryces spot by the fireplace for the longest time and kept it clear as though he knew that the space was still "occupied". With Gustopher P gone too now, the fireplace spot is filled with the brindle girlies who were forever bedeviling my two big men. The girls seem to protect that area for themselves now by taking up as much room as the can, having declared that it was no longer the "man cave". Its been five years and hounds have come and gone. Ryce however, still travels with me throughout the day and sneaks into my thoughts when I least expect it. All of my angels seem to tiptoe about in my mind and heart, sneaking in for a quick lick to my heart as if to tell me "we are here, always here if you need us". The difference with my thoughts of Ryce however, is that he always seems to be in the company of my big white cow upholstered manhound Gustopher P Jones. I can't seem to think of one now without the other. The summer solstice was for so long a sad time for me to to reflect. The sadness has long drifted away like a cool fog retreating from the warmth of the sun. It is now my favorite time to rejoice in the memories of my boys and the wishful path my mind and heart take me along each day feeling, no, knowing they are together. I use this day now to remember all of my angels. All so very different from one another, but all loved so very much. I use it to smile, to laugh and to relive the joy that each one of them has given me with their presence in my life. I miss and love you all. 5. Miss Isabella had a bald butt when she came home to me. Her stomach was also bald. Hair grew in on her butt, but her belly has stayed bald and she has the softest skin there. Welcome to GT!
  6. Its so very hard to watch these precious pups decline with age. She stays with you always, in your heart and your memories.

    Daring Doc Bar

He was such a special hound indeed. Thank you for loving him and making his world so special. L.
  8. Ducky, would you please add Daring Doc Bar to this months list. He was so very loved, not only in the adoption kennel but even more so by the wonderful, kind and loving family he adopted. L. "Doc McCoy"
  9. I'm so very sorry Robin. These sweet boys seem to wiggle in and nest right there in your heart. He will never be very far from you Robin. Just like Loca, he has left his imprint not only on your heart but in all the other corners of your life. He is there, lurking in that favorite spot of his. Each time you pass it, he will be a fleeting image in the corner of your minds eye that will bring a wonderful thought of him. The quiet click of his nails on the floor will whisper in your ear in the middle of the night, reminding you that he is still there, close by in your memory. He will sneak into your mind with a gentle nudge and soft breath on your face when you least expect it, sending a smile to your heart and laughter to your soul, with the remembrance of the joy and the unconditional love that passed between you. I wish he could have stayed with you longer, forever, as we want them all to do. He was so loved... L.
  10. Thank you for making Don Juan a loved and cherished member of your family. These elder hounds are so very precious and you most certainly gave him a wonderful home to live out his days.

    Blue

I'm so sorry that Blue is gone. It has been such a joy watching them grow up and learn how to be part of the family. L.
  15. Another blessed hound, well loved and adored. Our heart cries with yours on the loss of this special pup. L.
  16. How sad to lose one so dearly loved. L.
  17. Miss Star was a bounce some years ago but was such a preciously playful pup that she was adopted again without any problem. I have been privledged to have her for sleepovers on numerous occasions when her peeps have been out of town. Medical and job circumstances have forced her family to make hard decisions and one was to see if I would be willing to take this beautiful old girl. No thought involved in my decision. She was already like part of the family and had been for quite some time. Gustopher P thought she was just the prettiest hounds in the world and would stare at her with big goofy eyes and a silly grin, watching her every move. She is gorgeous with her beautiful grey face, the only thing that belies her age, and the softest fur imaginable. She is very vocal about her needs and wants and rivals Miss Skye in being able to carry on a conversation. She loves to empty the toy boxes by flinging stuffies helter skelter all over the house. May I please present the latest beautiful brindle addition to our pack, Miss Star....
  18. Oh poor Ginger....I'm sorry she has had to go through this, and you too for that matter. When they pulled a bunch of Gustopher P's teeth, he really liked the low sodium Campbells Chicken Noodle soup made with only half the water mixed with his regular canned food. Made it pretty soft for him and didn't bother his stomach. Give her a hug from her buddies in Miami. Hope you and Ginger are doing well otherwise.
  19. I've been ordering from Deadfleaz (Austrailia) for years without any issues. What I am actually more concerned about is the new generics that are coming onto the market. L.
  20. Saying goodbye to one so very well loved is one of the hardest things we do in life. Especially in our life with hounds. What a wonderful blessing this hound must have been in your life. Celebrate Alex and the joy that he brought to you. My wish for you is a peaceful transition from sadness to wonderfully happy memories of life with Alex.
  21. VCA's are under management by the corporation. The quality of any given location is determined by the vets working there. The company sets the prices but they also maintain and supply the clinics with upgrades and equipement etc. It makes it hard to give regular clients a break on the bill and makes collection easier for the clinic. My vet always figured out a way to get me the cheapest cost for the most exams/x-rays etc. He gave up his position as head of his clinic to get out from under them and did not renew his contract. He now see patients there two days a week to be able to see his regular peeps that he has cared for for years. The rest of the week he goes to various vets to do their orthopedic stuff. If I need him for something that needs immediate attention I call him on his cell phone and go to where ever he is. He saw our little Esme who broke her leg on the practice track at one location but we took her to a different clinic/location to do her surgery there, the same day. He was able to give her trainer a big reduction in price and followup without having to use the VCA price. This is one of the reasons I love my vet. He knows that I've probably put all three of his daughters through private school and paid the alimony for his first two wives over the years. He knows my wallet as well as I do. AND he better stay married to wife #3 cuz I already told him I'm NOT paying for her!
