  1. He will be missed by the greyhound people and their hounds. RIP Father Al.
  2. I was transitioning mine to Blue Buffalo Freedom (grain free) and had no problem with my female. Made the male's poops a little softer, but they all liked it.
  3. This is what I do also. If you pour the food from the bag into the container and then don't wash the container on a regular basis, you can contaminate the new food or have it become rancid. This way, the food stays in it's original bag - making it easy to check codes, etc. if necessary.
  4. He is so cute!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations.
  5. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was way too young to go the The Rainbow Bridge. Take comfort in the fact that he went peacefully in his sleep.
  6. Ginger looks thrilled. He's a handsome boy. Congratulations.
  7. What happened to good old reliable Benadryl. Why Zyrtec or Claritin?? For some dogs w/ severe allergies, Benadryl doesn't work. Dogs are suppose to get 1mg per lb of body weight. Circe was pushing up 3 mg per lb of body weight and it wasn't even touching her itching. Also Zyrtec and Claritin last longer w/ fewer pills than Benadryl. She has been on Zyrtec for over 2 months and her hair has grown back in and she is not itching nearly as bad. She has seasonal allergies and our pollen counts have been thru the roof. I also have allergies and ended up with a sinus infection and now bronchitis. So while we can't breathe, dogs itch. Good to know for future reference. Thanks.
  8. What happened to good old reliable Benadryl. Why Zyrtec or Claritin??
  9. Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Happy racing career end for a lucky boy.
  10. So sorry. It's never easy. You are letting her go with love.
  11. Possible spider bite. I would have a vet check it out.
  12. It never hurts to put them on joint supplements, even at a young age.
  13. I am sooooooo sorry to hear this. Unbelieveable!!!!! Give him lots of love. My 51-year old SIL was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in December and could not ever remember being exposed to asbestos. Found out she was working for her father one summer and a co-worker was cutting sheets of asbestos on a regular basis about 10 feet from the desk she was sitting at - 30 years ago.
  14. Sheila, Red has been on 1/2 of a 227mg Previcox for the last 6 years. Fortunately, this is for severe arthritis that he got at a young age. Given with food it is has been very easy on his stomach and I've had no liver issues. He also gets 1/2 of a 50mg tramadol twice a day. Praying that Bella can be kept pain-free for a long time.
  15. Isn't it greyt that someone knows your boy. The WWW harness is awesome. When I used it for Dodge, I connected the harness to the Martingale collar for more control. There is a short extension you can get from them to hook the leash to both.
  16. My dogs are all on Interceptor and two of them still got hookworms because they eat dirt in the yard and the Vet said the hookworms are in the dirt and there is nothing you can do about it.
  17. Congratulations. Everything happens for a reason.
  18. I truly believe that no one should have just one greyhound. Look at the way they are raised. They are totally socialized from birth and used to having other dogs around them their whole life. Just seems more natural to have more than one. Just my personal opinion.
  19. I have had four male greyhounds over the last 15 years and never had one try to mount my girls - or any other dog for that matter.
  20. Welcome to the Forum. Garwood is a gorgeous boy. I too am from a suburb of Philly and frequently stop at GAA to drop off supplies, etc.
