My sweet, silly, goofy, sensitive, funny man, Zeke-aroni has gone to The Bridge to be with his sister, LadyBug. These sweet brindle littermates were adopted out, together, at two years old and returned to rescue, together, at age nine. They had been inseparable all of their lives. When the family dropped them off they said it was okay to separate them. I didn't agree with that, and thus became FiveRoooooers. Here, at Camp Greyhound, Zeke-aroni and LadyBug were together, always. It wasn't until LadyBug died that it became evident just how dependent upon his big sister Zeke-aroni was. Zeke-aroni arrived here suspicious, with no self-esteem and no confidence. He depended upon LadyBug for everything. But over the next almost-four years, Zeke-aroni came into his own: stronger, curious, sweet. Seamus helped to heal his heart. He was my Pogo-Boy, my Noodle-roni! He learned to enjoy our pools. Now and then he enjoyed a chikken foot. He had a fondness for cheezburgers, plain. He mastered the Art of Tunneling. He loved his walks. But recently the light in his eyes began to dim, Zeke-aroni was tired and ready to see LadyBug, to be together again. His totems, catbirds and ladybugs, showed him the way. At the clinic we had to wait probably 10-15 minutes and he got anxious. Our vet doesn't usually give a sedative beforehand but she asked if I wanted one for him, and I was greytful for that. But it stung him and I felt *terrible*, *terrible* but then she said she'd be right back. She came back into the room with ... a dish of vanilla ice cream. He was so excited about it and didn't seem to notice that he was folding to the ground as he ate it. I am so thankful that the last thing he remembers is us smiling with him, as he ate a dish of vanilla ice cream that our bestest vet gave him. The daylillies planted in our memory garden for these siblings bloomed this year, spectacular blooms: PoJo for my Pogo Boy, and Bug's Hug, for our LadyBug. It is late in the daylilly season, but yesterday Bug's Hug bloomed one sweet blossom for her brother Oh Zeke-aroni, how I will miss you. You were a good, good dog. You made me laff. And cry, when I couldn't fix you. I know that LadyBug was waiting for you, once again to show you the way. Together Again, never ever to be apart.
