I finally found a place here that sells canned green tripe! Zuki absolutely LOVES the stuff! My cat was really excited by the smell and wanted to stalk Zuki's dish while he was eating. She wasn't happy that he had some and she didn't. So I gave her a teeny tiny bit on her plate and she ate it! I'm not sure if it's ok for her to eat though, so wanted to ask you. Do you know if it's ok for cats to eat green tripe?

My cats ate what Dear wouldn't eat & they're fine, I don't think it'll hurt them....its fish so it shouldn't hurt anyone.

It's the stomach of a cow, or other ruminating animal.
I'd think it's perfectly fine for a cat. I wouldn't be surprised if there were tripe cat treats out there.

Yes, perfectly fine for any meat-eating animal.

My cats won't touch the stuff - but I have weird cats!
One loves bean sprouts and cabbage, but won't eat chicken, beef, pork, or fish people food...
One loves refried beans.
One loves the ground fish/bones/organs that the dogs get but won't touch people fish...

our cat loves the smell of green tripe, especially the Xcalibur blend from greentripe.com that has organs and stuff ground up with the tripe. He won't eat it though!

Thanks everyone for your replies! Especially Ola for setting my mind at ease! No one was more surprised than me when she ate it! I'm still only giving Zola a teeny bit, just so she doesn't feel left out when Zuki gets some. And so she doesn't stalk his dish while he's eating.

I worked in the Meat-Room at a big Grocery Chain for 13 Years and I was told Tripe is the Stomach Lining from a Cow ??

Yup, that's it! And green tripe is stomach without the digested grass bits removed and unbleached (as is done for human consumption).

My kitten tries to eat it out of George's bowl--which oddly, George doesn't seem to mind!
I suppose since cats eat every bit of their natural diet, it must be fine for them! Although it's hard to imagine how many cats it would take to down a cow...

If it involved eating the whole cow themselves, my 2 cats could probably do it!!

A little OT but as far as odd tastes in food for cats, my Mom's cat loved lima beans!
