Full Version: Nature's Recipe

We have two 6 month old greyhounds and are having a hard time finding food that will give them good nutrition and at the same time control their soft, runny stools.
We have tried NUTRO, Blue Buffalo with no success. Now we are trying Nature's Recipe Rice and Lamb.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Val and Ann

Seems like a good product with good ingredients (no wheat, soy or by-products). I tried this food with my hounds but they all didn't agree with it. Bad gas and runny poos. Just because this resulted in my dogs, it might be different for yours. They did get soft shiny coats though.

I have been feeding Sierra, Avoderm and she seems to really like the taste and she has solid poos (she has been prone to poos issues).

My pack of 7 are all on Eagle Pack -- all do well, solid poos included.

We had the same problem and tried Costco Kirkand Chicken and Rice, a suggestion from another grey owner. We are very happy with it. In the beg. I added pumpkin, yogurt and beet pulp. (beet pulp absorbs the extra water in the colon and helps to eliminate the big D)
Another grey owner had alot of the same problems and feeds Beneful.
Kirkand has been discussed on Greytalk.

At that age, they should be eating a complete puppy chow. Have you tried Purina ONE or ProPlan? You're going to have a hard time getting enough calories into them with Nature's Recipe.

Also, have you had them checked for worms?

Yes, they have been checked for worms. They had some ring worms that was quickly taken care of with medication. Clean bill of health now. Our Vet told us to put them on adult food after six months of age. They are now 7 months old.

I use the chicken and rice formula for my crew and they are all doing well on it.
