Hi all.My grey Diamond is a very fussy eater,we've been feeding her chicken soup and she seems to like it but her poop sometimes is very runny, and she has gas that sometimes does't smell to great. My local pet food store has suggested that we slowly switch her over to eagle pack holistic select with lamb meal ,rice & oatmeal. Its expensive food ($60.00 a bag) I don't mind the cost if the food will work.Any advise I can get about this food would be greatly appreciated

I personally love the Eagle Pack -- I have fed the lamb, rice wholistic in the past but now am feeding the large breed wholistic which is chicken and rice with extra glucosomine as my pack is aging. I have seven and they ALL do well on it, so that is a testament right there. To help with the gas problem I suggest a teaspoon of plain yogurt once a day. Since I've been doing that, virtually NO gas. Good luck!

I guess I should add that it is a very high quality food and was listed in the Whole Dog Journal as an "approved" dry dog diet.

Love it, love it, love it! I switched my pack over around a month ago and they're happy. Less "output" too (gotta think about these things when you've got 8 hounds!). Right now I pay just < $50/30 lbs, and with the recent price hike across the board, it's hard to find a good food for much less, unless you're a Costco member.

My guys are on Duck & Oatmeal to appease a couple of sensitive tummies. smile.gif

Hi, of my 2 greys, only 1 is on Eagle Pack duck and oatmeal. It's the only thing that has given him firm poo rolleyes.gif . Like you said, it's very expensive (64.99$ + tax) but it's well worth the money after having dealt with tummy problems in the past. For what it's worth, my other grey is on Kirkland brand lamb & rice from Costco (much cheaper) and it works very well for him.

We love Eagle Pack also. We tried many good quality brands when we first adopted Ladd and it was apparent very quickly that EP was right for him (ohhh the gas on some of those foods...)
FYI - we use EP "Natural Adult" which is also lamb based. The holistic is our of our price range right now and I think the Natural Adult is a great quality food and he loves it. They do have a frequent buyers program and much of the ingredients are US based/grown and also manufactured in the US. It is independently owned to boot. We are able to get the 33 lb bag for about 47 dollars I believe - which is on par with other quality but not organic foods.

We fed Eagle Pack before we switched to raw and we loved it! It's a great food, they only have like 2 plants and they are in the US. We switched during the big dog food crisis awhile back so that was a big selling point for us. Our dogs did great on it.

For what it is worth, we have a cat that used to need to be shampooed with special shampoo once a month because her skin was so dry. Once we switched her to Eagle Pack, she has been bath free for over a year. I imagine it would be just as good for dogs.

We often have Eagle Pack donated to our group for our fosters. Most of them do well on it!

Koda has been on the EaglePack Holistic for a couple of years now and does great on it. I switch flavours with each new bag and she never gets loose stool from it. I have never fed the lamb one due to personal reasons but I have fed every other flavour. I think it is a great food and have no plans of taking Koda off of it anytime soon. With that being said...each dog is different so your pup may not tolerate it the same as Koda. But...it can't hurt to give it a shot. Just do a slow and gradual shift like you mentioned so that you can at least give it a fair shake...

Your dog will never have such a shiny coat as on the EP. Ours are on the Eagle Pack Natural formula. It does contain corn but ours have never had a problem with it. I can recommend it--our dogs do very well on it.

Eagle Pack is good and we have been using it for many years. We try other things if they look promising but always return to square one. A good thing is we can switch between the 'flavours' for variety with no changeover problems. EP probably won't appreciate me saying this but my greys enjoy the cheaper, non-holistic, varieties just as much and do just as well on them. I now only get the holistic ones if they are on special offer, which seems to happen quite frequently. EP is much more expensive here in Australia than in the US, although by no means one of the pricier brands, but is worth every cent. Coats are shiney, they physically eat less of it than they do some competing brands, and that of course has benefits at the other end of the process. Unfortunately, like any other food, there is no guarantee it will be perfect for your particular hound.

Thanks so much everyone ,it certainly sounds like Eagle Pack is every bit as good as I have been told it is ,I really like the idea of being to switch flavors ,this should keep Diamond from getting bored f the same taste all the time. Thanks again colgate.gif

Dillon was getting picky. I was looking for a new food and an employee at Complete Petmart suggested Eagle Pack. She said it's the one food her picky dog would eat. Dillon loves it! I'm very happy with it.

My guys love it and do well on it. I too, change flavors on occassion!
