Full Version: Charlee Bear Treats?

Just wondering, when we adopted Pike, the folks at Greyhounds Only said we need to stay away from onions. I'm trying to find a training treat that's natural and won't irritate his sensitive tummy, and saw Charlee Bears at the store, but one of the ingredients is garlic powder. Is that safe for greys? Anybody use Charlee Bears? Or any other suggestions for training treats for greys with funny tummies?

Thanks!

Garlic and onion have a cumulative effect. The amount in the charlie bear's is negligible. If your pup has a sensitive stomach though, personally I'd opt for things like freeze dried meats as a treat.

I've given Charlie Bears with no problems though smile.gif

Carl LOVES his Charlie Bears! No problem with his stomach at all, though as with anything they eat it is an individual thing.

Congrats, Pike is one sweet houndie. I have adopted two hounds from GO. My guy Bart has a very sensitive tummy. Luckily he is really food motivated, so we actually use kibble as a treat. When we do recall training with a sports whistle, he gets hot dogs. We have used some other treats with serious gas problems (chicken jerky from Sams Club and liver treats). Good luck. See you at the reunion this sunday if you go.

We use these a lot and have had no problems.

For training, you might also try some of the freeze-dried meats or jerkies without too many ingredients. They're apt to be smellier and thus provide more incentive.

for training treats I just use plain old cheapo hot dogs cut up into little bites about 1/2" long.

Is this true for other treats that list onion/garlic as ingredients? I have worried about this too. My gang all love a treat after they come in from going potty and I don't want to give them anything harmful. Three of my dogs have heart problems and I can't use hot dogs or cheese because of the salt.
