We left in a rush this morning, and DD forgot to close her door and our sweet pupper helped herself to the Halloween candy that DD had gotten at the church carnival! I personally went through the bag the night before, so nothing I am concerned about--no dark chocolate or large quantities of it. Just a peanut butter cup, some Skittles, Starburst and a few Tootsie Rolls, both the chocolate and the fruit flavored kind. But I would like to know this--do y'all think I should skip food for 24 hours, or just until the morning?? The Big D hasn't arrived yet, she is just a little green around the gills!!
Any other candy thiefs out there????

I'd just carry on as normal and see what happens. If she's anything like Nugget was, that will be nothing at all.

Yes, PB cups have chocolate.
But not even close to enough to be a problem for a greyhound sized dogs.
They could eat an entire supersized package and the chocolate in them isn't enough to be a major problem to MOST dogs.
If there aren't any ill effects, just skip dinner and feed breakfast as normal tomorrow
And just a suggestion for everybody that doesn't know when to be concerned about chocolate - LOOK IT UP NOW - before your dog gets into it, that way you don't freak out needlessly

Yes, the pb cups had chocolate, but they were an off brand, not very chocolatey. And it was only one. (I ate the other one!) No trouble so far, may give a little food to see if she is interested.

I once had a Cocker Spaniel eat about 20 Kit Kat bars, foil and all. It didnt phase her.
Only pure Bakers chocolate is fatal in smaller doses. I believe a Greyhound could eat 100 Reeses cups and survive. I can only imagine the zoomies that would forthcome, but thats another story...

I was freaking out one day b/c Cookie got one hershey's kiss, and then my friend told me that baker's chocolate and dark chocolate could cause major problems, but not the chocolate she had (at least in small doses). I definitely did not know that.

Not that I'm going to be passing out chocolate to Mac and Cookie (sorry puppers) anytime soon.
