Inspired by the "runner up" thread.... I got to thinking.

I REALLY love - and admire, some dog breeds - but - I'll NEVER have one. They don't fit into my personality, or lifestle.

Our neighbors had an Australian Shepard - his name was "Zip" - probably THE SMARTEST dog I've ever met. His dad would say - "Zip - put Shasha in her stall" - and Zip would run out into the horse pasture, separate Sasha out from all the other horses, and trot her into the proper stall. Zip's dad would then just give Zip a little pat on the head - and say - "good job". And Zip was the happiest dog you've ever seen. That dog knew more of the English language than most humans. It was amazing!

So - I think Aussies are ASTOUNDING. Especially well-trained ones, that get the chance to "work". But - will I ever have one - NOOOOO! I don't have the ability to train - and I don't have the work to give one to keep it happy. (We don't own any livestock). An Aussie without a "job" is a miserable creature.

My "most admired breed I'll covet --- but NEVER have - is Australian Shephard". What's yours?

Boston Terriers. I grew up with one, and they have a very special place in my heart, but they're way too hyper for me at this point.

I had a jack russel growing up and i think they are awsome little dogs but way way way to much energy for me. I would love to have a rhodesian ridgeback they are stunning! but too much for me. I also really miss having American staffies around they are such awsome dogs but so much work.

Samoyeds and Newfoundlands.

Had both in the past, but can no longer do the hair with the arthritis I have in my hands.

I have always loved the Bouvier, but again, just too much hair. So now I just live with the memories of dogs I have owned or shown in the past and cuddle and love my greys.

I also love Afghans; but all that hair, yikes! Ibizan hounds are lovely, too, but seem kind of hyper. I do want to branch out into another breed someday, but we will stay within the sighthounds; I want a whippet someday...

Grew up with one and he was the greatest dog, but I just don't see one fitting into our lifestyle.

Borzoi. LOVE everything about them...except the hair.

Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs. Adore them and their personalities...don't like that you can see their buttholes all the time.

I have loved the few Bernese Mountain Dogs I have met. Great looking, super family dogs. But wayyyyyyy too much fur to deal with. I also love JRTs but don't think I could handle a dog with a stronger personality than me. :P Besides, the lovely and pert near perfect JillyBean is already taken!

Not want to have would be anything that isn't a Greyhound or Chart Polski.
I love dogs but I definitely prefer my quiet, calm, short hair adult greyhounds on a daily basis.

I love German Shepards and my dog before Twinkle was a White GSD. I love them but their fur doesn't love me as my allergies improved greatly after her passing.

I also love Bernese Mountain Dogs but the fur would be too much for me also.

This! I hate being able to see the butthole. And then when they sit down on the carpet.. ewww.

My answer is borzoi. They're gorgeous but the hair kind of scares me. :blush

Most dogs are too high energy for me, but I love them all. My sister has an Aussie and he is the best dog. He is so incredibly loyal to his family and he's a cuddlebug.

I agree with Heather on the butthole thing. :sick :lol :lol

I love big dogs, Great Dane, Borzoi, but I would love an Irish Wolfhound. I know they don't live long and I've never even met a real live one...but in my imaginary life where I lived in a Scottish castle with hundreds of acres of property and dozens of dogs....my Wolfhounds would be running free with all the greyhounds I'd adopt
